I only have a matter of nights left in Dubai. I can't believe how quickly the time has flown by. It seems like only yesterday I arrived at Dubai International Airport for the first time and being hit by the heat and coming to terms with driving in the traffic on the roads. I have since landed at the airport another five times (six in total). Along with London Heathrow, Canberra and Sydney airports, Dubai International Airport is one of my most visited airports.

Having spent the better part of 13 weeks in Dubai over a 16 week period, the UAE would be one country you would expect me to know a little about (along with Australia and England). So how would I describe Dubai and the UAE in one sentence?

Dubai and the UAE is not a destination, but a fun place to visit.

In other words I would probably recommend Dubai as worth a visit, but not as the ultimate destination. For example, if you are flying from Australia to Europe and what a stop over somewhere, then Dubai could be the place for you. You only need 2 or 3 nights there to do the main stuff and other than Dubai there isn't a great deal to see. If you do have a stop over. It's probably worth doing a Desert Safari - Doesn't cost that much and they are a bit of fun.

The highlight of my time in Dubai were the trips I did in the car (that is once I got out of the traffic in Dubai - Dubai traffic isn't the worst I've seen (I've been in some hairy traffic as a taxi passenger that is worst) but it's pretty crazy) and the landscapes I got to drive through. Generally speaking there wasn't much at your destination, but the landscapes between point A and B were pretty amazing.
