I'm back from a very enjoyable weekend in Cologne. I found it a really enjoyable place to visit, but then I do really enjoy Germany. The Cathedral is definitely worth a visit. It's massive and dirty. I did a walking tour and the guide mentioned that they have investigated a number of ways to clean the Cathedral, but that the decision has been made to leave it dirty.

One of the most interesting things about Cologne is that it has a very strong Roman history and there are some interesting things to see along this line. In particular they have a large Mosaic which is in it's original position and this is housed in the German-Roman Museum.

Dinner on the Saturday night was quick interesting. We ate at a 'Saxon' pub. The food was good. You could buy 1/2 a metre of Bratwurst (with fried potatoes and sauerkraut) or two people could share a metre. What was interesting was that you sat down and joined other people at the table. The table I sat had 3 people halfway through their dinner, they left and we were joined by another 5 more people.
